| Chib visits ITI Jammu | | 87 placements made during last 4 months | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 27: Minister for Technical Education, Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports, R.S. Chib, today inspected functioning of ITI at Canal road, here today and also took stock of the pace of work on Boys Hostel block, estimated to cost of Rs. 80.16 lakh and double storey Women ITI block and Workshop block, estimated to cost of Rs.1.11 crore. The Minister was accompanied by Secretary, Technical Education and Sports, B.A. Runiyal, Director Technical Educ-ation, Mohammad Shafi Rather. The Minister was informed that Boys Hostel on its completion will have five rooms, warden room, care taker room, mess and toilet block, whileas Women's ITI will have administrative block in the ground floor and class rooms on the first floor. Chib also inspected the class rooms and interacted with the students. He enquired about the quality of education being imparted to them by the teachers. The Minister directed the Principal of the Institute to ensure all facilities to the students and staff and also instructed for beautification and landscaping of the lawns and pathways leading to various blocks of the Institute. The Minister also inspected the old complex of the Institute and directed the JKPCC officers accompanying him to formulate and submit a detailed project report for its renovation and repairs to make it useful for the students and staff of the Institute. Earlier, the Principal of the Institute, Mohammad Iqbal Kohli, apprised the Minister about the achievements registered by the ITI during last financial year. He said that 632 students are enrolled in the Institute and training in 32 trades is being imparted to them by a team of qualified and hardworking faculty members of the Institute. He said till date 87 young boys and girls of ITI Jammu, with different skills, have been placed in different Institutions of the country by the Placement Wing of this Institute, during last four months. Superintending Engineer JKPCC, Nayeem Ahmad and officers of J&K Housing Board also accompanied the Minister.
