| Maikash KLS releases book on moral education | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 28: The "Fourth 'R' of Education " a English book on religious and moral education written by Kewal Krishan Sharma, a retired principal was released at a graceful funcation organized by Maikash Kashmiri Literary Society (KLS) Urdu Forum Jammu , Koshur Markazi Adbi Forum Jammu, Kishtwari Sahity Kala Sangam Kistwar in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages here today. Chief guest Khurshid Ahmed Bahat spoke in detail about the evolution of education system in the J &K State and pointed out that proper place of religious and moral education has not been given in the text books as a result of which the new generation is not in a position to understand the values of religious and moral education. He appreciated the contents of the book which is of immense value to its readers. Earlier prominent Urdu fiction writer, critic, Amin Banjara expressed his satisfaction over the matter and style of the book and appealed to the state government to incorporate this book at least in E.T.T and B.Ed. courses so that the teacher community may derive valuable information form this from this book. Defining the fourth 'R' Bamjara said that first 'R' meant for religious education or moral education. He further said that under Commissioner Secretary School education G.A. Peer and under the guidance of Director School Education Jammu Zahida Kahan the teachers are already working on this subject and inculcate the moral, value and peace education in the students. Bashir Bhaderwahi, in his presidential address, narrated the scenario of education system prior to 1947 and pin pointed the deficiencies in the present system of education. Sardar Rajinder Singh presented his very informative and critical paper on the book and appreciated the efforts of author. he said that the subject of the book is really an important component of education system while K.K. Sharma, the author, said that he had to burn his midnight oil for writing and compiling of "fourth 'R' of Education" when he noticed that importance of religious and moral education was being lowered by the experts who prepare text books and syllabus for students. The programme was conducted by Wali Mohd Aseer Kishtwari.
