4/28/2010 11:50:41 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Apr 28: CII J&K State Council today organized an interactive session with Minister for Medical and Technical Education RS Chib on Fast Tracking of six Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) adopted by CII under the PPP mode in Jammu & Kashmir.
In order to give an impetus to the conversion of 6 Government ITI s in Kathua, Samba, Udhampur, Ganderbal, Budgam and Pulwama adopted by CII into Centre of Excellences (CoE) CII recommended to the Minister that the conversion be fast tracked and outsourced to Nettur Technical Training Foundation (NTTF), Bangalore. Shailendra K Agarwal gave a detailed presentation on the same. The outsourcing is proposed to be completed in two phases. Phase 1 would include preparation and presentation of a preliminary report on the present status of the ITIs and recommendations for improvement while Phase 2 will be monitoring and implementation of the recommendations. Both the phases will be completed within one year of being outsourced.
RS Chib while commenting on the CII proposal said that the government ITIs presently were not up to the required standards. He said that a Centre of Excellence should be an excellent institution with proper infrastructure, relevant syllabus and a trained faculty.
However, to achieve this we would need an expert consultant who could give concrete recommendations and oversee implementation of those recommendations on ground. While agreeing to the CII proposal for outsourcing, he complimented CII for taking this initiative which would go a long way in imparting employable skills to our youth.
Chib also said that the government would seriously consider outsourcing all other ITI s in the PPP mode in the state.
Earlier Vicky Mahajan Chairman CII J&K State Council welcomed all esteemed guests and said that the rich experience of NTTF will add value to overall development of ITIs which would attract youth of J&K to join ITIs and gain employable skills.
Minister was accompanied by Secretary Technical Education, B A Runiyal, Director Technical Education, M S Rather and other government officials of Technical Education Department. The industry was represented by all Institutional Management Committee (IMC) Chairmen. Principals / Superintendents of all ITIs running under PPP mode were also present.
