Jammu, 28: Paving its way through all odds to take up challenges faced by human beings in the contemporary global settings, a handful of youth having emerged on the state panorama undertaking various issues for a public awareness is a yeoman's task that needs special citing.
Towards a hot pursuit to affect a transitional shift among the human perceptions regarding many issues, Lakshya-The aim, an NGO under which these brave hearts are putting in their men and machinery besides sweat and money are no ultra mundane entities, but a bundle of enthusiasts drawn from variegated arenas of professional and amateurish fields are doctors, engineers, lawyers and businessmen who are toiling hard under adverse conditions to kindle a spark of enlightenment among the people of state by advocating there expertise against drug abuse, women empowerment, resurrecting art and culture of the region besides disseminating the educative information among the masses to shun the bad and adopt the good.
In a tête-à-tête with ET correspondent about Lakshya's motive and its paraphernalia working in the state, Raveesh Mengi, the president and Abhishek Magotra, the vice president presented an elaborate perspective of the organization having undertaken various projects and their execution in a manner that may benefit the society. Besides Achal Sharma as legal advisor and Harsh Jasrotia as cashier complete the quorum of the NGO.
ET: How and why the idea of Lakshya stuck you and what was your immediate plan to transform it into the reality.
Raveesh: Since there are many NGOs working in the state while undertaking many components as their base models for execution of different job works, our concept is broadly awareness based that includes holding of camps, debates and workshops to guide the general public about the various menaces eating into the vitals of the society. Besides highlighting the women plights and its constitutional empowerment is another strong motive that Lakshay follows to make the society aware of its rights under the constitution.
ET: How far do you envisage that success may be your ultimate aim in the process that you have initiated through Lakshya.
Abhishek: There cannot be any short term plan that could be earmarked through Lakshya for a momentary success. Every enterprise tasked by our organization is under a strategically devised programming that has to be acontinuous process affecting the mankind with its collateral soothing. Drug menace, for instance, is a global threat with Generation X and a small initiative taken in Reasi on that account could not immediately qualify for an ultimate success overnight.
ET: What is your management plan of the organization and what recent projects you have finished?
Raveesh: One-Day workshop on Drug de-addiction organized by our Association at Jammu Institute of Ayurveda and Research Institute was the mega event held in the region in which besides the ministerial coterie, a galaxy of bureaucratic dispensation was also present that offered its views and ideas of controlling the nuisance while managing informative and educative guidelines for the disjointed youth. Minister for health and medical education R S Chib was the chief guest who appreciated the initiative of Lakshya for pledging resource management for the stark truth of the society. Our forthcoming workshop on women empowerment would be the major highlight which we are planning on a bigger scale in near future.
ET: How are the funds managed for the programme? Is there any government funding?
Abhishek: Still we are in infancy stage for having qualified for any monetary assistance from the government. What we are doing, we are managing through our own resources by pooling in whatsoever we could on the executive levels of the organization. Besides we are working on the donations and seeking patronage of different heads of the institutions for satiating our noble causes. Dr Roop Lal Sharma, Chairmain Sain Charitable Trust and Chief Patron of the Organization needs a special mention for providing morale and social assistance and support in realizing our dreams into success.
