| CGPWA holds Annual General Body Meeting 2010 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 28: Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) of Central Gover-nment Pensioners' Welfare Association (CGPWA), J&K, Jammu was held here today. About 70 CGPWA members attended the AGM; besides a good number of special invitees comprising distinguished senior citizens and social activists. General Secretary of the Association JK Vaid conducted the proceedings and also presented the Annual General Report for the year 2009-2010. President SS Wazir briefly touched on the welfare activities being pursued by the Association in service of the civil society, in general and the pensioners and their families, in particular. Patron CGPWA and former Director Geological Survey of India VP Sharma gave an illuminating power point presentation on the theme: 'Climate Change & Its Impact on Water & Food Security-An Eco Friendly Innovative Strategy'. The Association celebrates several International Days such as World Pensioners' Day, World Elders Day, World Environment Day, and World Water Day; besides AGM. In all these functions, the rich human resource available with the Association in varied fields is made use of, by presenting key note papers by the resource persons in the respective fields, drawn from the pool of experts of the Association in fields of environment, geology, forestry, groundwater, human resource management including financial management. The Association represents 18 Central Departments of All India and Central Services. In pursuance of the valued tradition of honouring the senior members, three senior members of the Association viz BD Gupta, HL Abrol and MM Nanda were honoured at the AGM function on attaining age of 80 years. Minister for Medical and Technical Education RS Chib, who was chief guest on the occasion, in his address expressed great happiness and satisfaction on the useful and productive activities of the Association, particularly in disseminating awareness in the society including the young school children on burning issues like environment, water conservation, climate change and global warming.
