JKNPP demands judicial probe into bus accident tragedy

JAMMU, Apr 28: Panthers Party has demanded judicial inquiry and immediate resignation from the Minister for Transport owing moral responsibility for yesterday's bus mishap on Ramnagar- Udhampur road besides frequent accidents all over the state.
As per a press handout, Chairman, Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) Prof Bhim Singh, Leader of the Legislature Party Harsh Dev Singh and President and party president Balwant Singh Mankotia have expressed deep shock over the bus accident on Ramnagar-Udhampur road last evening resulting into death of five persons.
They said the Transport Ministry deserves reorganization with commitment to the safety of the passengers.
Two out of five killed in the mishap were among the close relatives of Panthers Party leaders.
They have been identified as Capt Shabil Singh Sarmal (47) and his wife Darshana Devi.
Capt Shabil Singh was the son-in-law of Prof Bhim Singh's real maternal uncle.
Among those injured included Vijay Kumari, Surjeet Singh and Ranjit Singh are the children of Prof Bhim Singh's sister.
Panthers Party leaders demanded the compensation of Rs 20 lakh to the family of deceased persons and Rs 5 lakh each to the injured persons.
They alleged that the ambulances sent to collect the injured persons didn't have any medical assistance or a doctor which is a grave violation of the rules and deserves a serious attention of the government.
Harsh Dev Singh also visited the accident site which falls in Ramnagar constituency and visited several affected families also.
Other Panthers Party leaders including Anita Thakur, General Secretary, Jagdev Singh, Coordination Secretary visited the injured persons admitted in Government Medical College Hospital this morning and expressed concern about their condition.
