| HC restricts railway authority to loading of cement, coal at Govindsar | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Apr 28: Peoples of Mohalla Malwarch Govindsar seeking direction to Railway authorities for not loading-unloading cement coal and coal ash from Railway Racks, Justice Sunil Hali ordered that till next date of hearing before the Court, no loading and unloading of cement, coal and coal ash at railways racks shall be permitted in vicinity where petitioners reside. Court while issuing this direction observed that objections have not been filed by the respondents order dated October 30, 2009, Director Pollution Control Board was directed to visit the spot and submit a detail report. Regional director Jammu has submitted its report in which it has been submitted that the air pollution caused due to unloading of cement, coal and coal ash from railway racks followed by reloading of the consignments in trucks has definite adverse impact on the air quality of area and it must be dangerous to the health of inhabitants of the area. Having vehicular moment of trucks in and around the railway dumping yard mostly on Kaccha road adds to air pollution adversely. Justice Sunil Hali after hearing Adv MK Sharma appeared for the petitioners whereas Adv SS Chib appeared for the respondents ordered that till next date of hearing no loading and unloading of cement and coal and coal ash railways racks shall be permitted in the vicinity where the petitioners reside. This order is passed because respondents have not chosen to file objections. (JNF )
