| Use water judiciously , metering to be done in selected areas: Taj | | Pumping stations to go online | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 28: The water distribution system in the State is going to witness a turnaround as the Government plans to connect all water pumping stations through internet and make them operational online. With this not only the data base of State's water resources would be created but also the information would be available round the clock. This was disclosed at a high level meeting of engineers today presided over by Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Taj Mohiud Din. Addressing the meeting, the Minister directed judicious use of drinking water in view of the increasing demands and depletion of water sources due to global warming. The meeting also decided to undertake metering of consumers to make water available to all. In this regard the meeting decided to take up metering of water connections in a phased manner so that the consumers are provided water for adequate time and also to check wastage. The meeting also decided to check the transmission and distribution losses occurring during the delivery of water supply. The Minister also directed the Chief Engineers, Irrigation Jammu and Kashmir to expedite the collection of backlog of abiana from the defaulters.
