| Panthers leader joins BJP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 28:Bharatiya Janata Party today received a shot in the arm when Engineer Ghulam Ali Khatana, Panthers Party Youth Wing President, joined it. In an impressive function held at BJP headquarters State President Shamsher Singh Manhas, along with leader of Legislature Party Prof Chaman Lal Gupta and State Spokesperson Dr Nirmal Kamal, garlanded Khatana while welcoming his joining into the party. Speaking on the occasion, Shamsher Singh Manhas and Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta said that there has been propaganda against BJP that it is an anti-Muslim party, which is not true. All this is being done under a conspiracy to tarnish its image as it is the only political party in the country which achieved great success in a short span of just 16 years and got the distinction of ruling the world's largest democracy. They said the BJP stands for strengthening nationalist forces and it never play politics on the name of religion or caste. For BJP, any one who respects the Indian Constitution, treats the motherland as own mother and abides by law of the land, is a true Indian. Any one who indulges in anti-national activities, irrespective of his religion or region is a criminal and should be punished under the law of the land. The principles and ideology of the BJP is very clear and it is due to these principles that the nation loving people embrace BJP, be they Hindu, Muslim or Sikhs. Er Gulam Ali Khatana, while giving reasons for his disillusionment with Panthers Party, stated that the recent highly partisan and blatantly anti-Gujjar-Bakerwal, anti-Gaddis, anti-Sippis and other reserved categories, role played by the Panthers Party MLA Harsh Dev Singh and others during the consideration of Inter-district Recruitment Bill has exposed the Panthers Party as being not concerned towards the interests of about this 35 per cent population. He stated that the bill had been the outcome of bias and prejudice that the valley-based political outfits harbor against Gujjars, Bakerwals, Gaddis, Sipis and other reserved categories. This bill had been solely conceptualized to pander to this bias. It was great shock to me when Harsh Dev Singh supported the bill banning the inter-district recruitment, which basically targeted Gujjars, Bakerwals, gaddis and others to deny them avenues and opportunities to fully avail of the reservation provided for them in the Constitution. Justifying his joining BJP, Khatana said that the core ideology of this party is revealed by the remarks of its National President Nitin Gadkari that this nation is for its people and these people are for this nation irrespective of their region, religion, caste and creed.
