| Beaten cattle "smuggler" dies in hospital | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT KATHUA, Apr 28: Naresh Kumar, who was beaten by the activists of some Hindu organisations here Sunday last for allegedly trying to smuggle cows and other milch animals from Punjab to Kashmir, succumbed to his injuries at the Government Medical College Hospital in Jammu today. Though police had registered a murder case in this connection, no accused had been arrested so far. Police sources said Naresh allegedly smuggled milch animals from Punjab in his truck clandestinely via Jarai road here Sunday last. However, when the truck reached the government degree college here, it was intercepted by the activists of some Hindu organisations. Sources said Naresh of RS Pura, Jammu, and his conductor Mushtaq Ali of Ward No 12, Kathua, were dragged out of the truck and given a severe beating. They were admitted to the GMC Hospital, Jammu, where Naresh succumbed to his injuries today. Sources said over a dozen people had assaulted the driver and the conductor. Police were planning raids at their residences to arrest them as all of them had been booked in a murder case, the sources added.
