| One-way traffic on NH today | | |
Srinagar: To allow free movement of convoy carrying government officials from Jammu-Srinagar, the authorities have decided to allow only one-way traffic on the 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway.
There would be only Jammu to Srinagar traffic on May 1, 2, 8 and 9, a police spokesman said here this afternoon.
He said the decision to allow only one-way traffic was taken keeping in view of annual Darbar move 2010.
''It is appealed to the public to kindly cooperate with the traffic police for smooth passage of Darbar move convoy,'' he said.
The Darbar move offices, including Civil Secretariat, seat of the government, will close in Jammu on April 30 to reopen here on May 10.
Hundreds of buses and other vehicles carrying officials will operate between Jammu and Srinagar on these days. Besides trucks loaded with office records will start moving from Jammu to here from May 1.
