NSF demands redressal of aggrieved KAS aspirants' representations
4/29/2010 10:59:13 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Apr 29: National Secular Forum (NSF) has demanded from the Chairman of J&K Public Service Commission to decide about the pending representations of aggrieved KAS aspirants at the earliest. Addressing media persons here today, NSF President Vikas Sharma expressed serious concern over the wrong paper setting pattern adopted by the PSC authorities in some of the optional subjects, including Chemistry-B, Dogri-B, Zoology-B, Geography-B and Agriculture-B. He said that most of the questions were out of the prescribed syllabus owing to which the chances of aspirants who appeared in the above said optional subjects received a severe dent. NSF president demanded that fair chance be given to all the candidates as been given to the candidates who took Agricultural Sciences. "The paper of Agriculture-B was conducted again following the report of out of syllabus questions and boycott of the same by the candidates but, the genuine demand of the other aggrieved candidates is being ignored completely which is a grave injustice," Sharma said.
Vikas Sharma further said that over 14 days has been passed but the PSC authorities have not disposed the representations regarding discrepancies in optional papers. Members of NSF suggested to PSC that if re-conduct of examination is not possible than the policy of Scaling/ Moderation at the time of evaluation be adopted so as to protect the right of candidates and give fair and equal opportunity to all. It is pertinent to mention here that Scaling/ Moderation is done not only in the subjective-type main examination but also in the objective-type preliminary examination of UPSC with a sole aim to give equal opportunity to candidates of all optional subjects as different subjects have different difficulty levels.
Sharma said that if the issues taken up in the Press Conference are not taken seriously by the PSC and government then agitation will be launched in the coming days.
