| Coalition working on 'totalitarian thinking': Gupta | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 30: Criticising the ruling coalition government for formulating a policy for return and rehabilitation of "Kashmiri militants", Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today deplored the alleged harsh attitude adopted by the ruling coalition in dealing with the agitating employees of the state to get settled their demands. Commenting upon the reports that the Chief Minister and others in their meeting with the leaders of employees insisted to the retention of ESMA and no roll back of the 'no work, no pay', Chaman Lal Gupta, the leader of the BJP Legislature Party alleged, "It was a strange approach that the government seems to be eager to have a soft policy for return and rehabilitation of those persons who had gone to Pakistan and PoK to have trainings and weapons for subversion and break the unity of the country." He maintained, "It was insisting to apply ESMA and 'no work, no pay' policy against the employees and workers who are demanding nothing more than what it was promised by these leaders at the time of Assembly and Lok Sabha elections as also later on in their meetings with the leaders of different trade union bodies." Gupta charged, "It clearly smacks of a totalitarian thinking. This was more astonishing that these ruling leaders of the National Conference and that of the Congress are much talking for human rights and flexible policies to deal with insurgents and terrorists but at the same time they appear to be despotic while dealing with those who are agitating nothing else but what was promised to them." "We raised the issue of false promises in the Assembly also but there was no answer from the treasury benches. Time has come when the political leaders, especially those of the ruling junta, would have to be accountable," he added. The BJP leader reiterated that the coalition of the NC-Congress has not only failed on all fronts but it was proving a "curse".
