| Head Constable declared corrupt after 4 yrs | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Apr 30: FIR registered in police station Gandoh against then Head Constable Firdous Giri. According to FIR lodged, on complaint of one Abdul Latif who approached the senior police officer against the said head constable in which he submitted that on January 29, 2006 while he was going to police station Gandoh in the way he met with the SHO who asked the complainant to go in the police station and met head constable.
According to the complainant, he met the head constable who started beating him without any reason, when the complainant asked the head constable why he was beating him then head constable told him that he is involved in supporting militants in the area. Upon this complainant said that he has nothing to do with the militants. The head constable asked to him to pay Rs 10000 for his release from the custody upon this complainant said that at this stage he has only Rs 1000/- if he allowed going outside police station he arranged rest of money, after sometime complainant met the head constable and pay him Rs 3000/- besides this the head constable also asked the complainant to give in writing that he handed over the land to his brother. Thereafter he called his brother and said that your case is settled now. Thereafter complainant released from police station where from he came to hospital Doda where he was examined. Thereafter he filed an application before the higher police authority. On the intervention of the SSP Doda, a case u/s 5 PC Act r/w section 161 RPC was registered after four years of the occurrence. ---JNF
