| SCOA calls upon DDC Kathua, submits memo | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 30: A delegation of Stone Crusher Owners Association led by its president Vikram Rand-hawa today called upon District Development Com-missioner, Kathua to apprise him about the adamant attitude of the administration and various departments concerned with this industry. While interacting with the DDC Randhawa said that the Stone Crushing Industry is the basic development industry in an unorganized setup and therefore suffering due to inadequate support from the Government. He said that all the units operating in the area are registered with DIC Kathua and are being run by unemployed educated youth thereby not depending on government jobs and are even providing jobs to various others. Decrying the adamant attitude of the government by providing permission to outsiders for setting up Stone Crushing units in the area, Randhawa said that with the execution of the project of National Highway there was lot of hopes for this industry and a number unemployed graduates established units in the area but unfortunately a Stone Crushing unit was established by an industrialists at Kishanpur near Channi between Chann Arorian and Chadwal by an outsider finishing all hopes of the local unit holders of the area. He brought to the notice of DDC that public in general was of the illusion that this unit belongs to ITD Cementation the agency constructing the National Highway but the unit belongs to a businessman from outside the state who has an agreement with the ITD Cementation for the supply of raw material which even did not have proper NOC from the pollution Control Board. He also urged DDC to look into the matter of entry tax on spare parts for these units which is imported from other states which is charged 13.5%. He also alleged harassment to the unit holders on the hands of Geology and Mining Department which is at its peak as the contractors from the neighboruing states are allowed to extract material from River Ravi which he termed illegal. DDC gave a patient hearing and assured all possible help to the association. Those who accompanied Vikram include Anil Gaind, Balwant Rai Gupta, S.K Sharma, Dev Choudhary, Ramesh Kapoor, Rajeev Jasrotia, Sohan Singh, Parveen Singh, Banarasi Dass.
