| Manohar reviews functioning of Cooperatives | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Apr 30: Minister of State for Cooperatives, Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma today reviewed the functioning of Cooperative Department at a meeting held here today under his chairmanship.
Dr. Manohar laid stress for speedy steps for revival of Cooperative Consumer Federation (CONFED) an apex cooperative organization in the State.
It was decided that all 109 Cooperative Marketing Societies including District Consumer Stores would form the members of the federation and will streamline the functioning of all consumer cooperatives. This will ensure quality consumer products at reasonable rates to the public.
The meeting was informed that on the demand of public, the district consumer store, Srinagar has reviewed Apna Bazar, Srinagar and has sold goods worth of Rs. 1.88 lakh on the first day of its opening which is a healthy sign for overall cooperative sectors.
The Minister issued instructions for the immediate renovation of Apna Bazar to run the outlet on Modern lines, which necessary funds would be made available under NC DC schemes etc.
