| Soz for corruption free society | | Taj, Chib, Sham address workers' rally | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 1: Former Union Minister and JKPCC President, Prof. Saif-ud-Din Soz has called for eradicating corruption from the society and for this he sought cooperation from all sections, especially from the employees' community to help in eradicating this evil with deep rooted impact on the society. Maintaining that Government employees are mainly responsible for socio-economic development of the country, Prof. Soz stressed that they should work with honesty and dedication to full-fill the aspirations of the people. Referring to the recent strike of the Government employees in the state, he said that confrontation is not a solution of any problem and all issues can be sorted out through dialogue. He appealed the employees to shun the path of agitation and seek solutions of their problems through negotiations. He said that he will write to the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to address all genuine demands of the employees pertaining to the implementation of 6th Pay Commission. Soz was addressing a mammoth rally of workers and employees organized by the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) to mark the May Day, here today. He lauded the role of the INTUC for strengthening the Congress Party. He asked them to maintain unity and work for the betterment of the society. He assured them that other pending issues of the employees will be taken up with the Central Government. Speaking on the occasion, Minister for PHE, Taj Mohi-ud-Din said that coalition Government has taken various landmark decisions for the welfare of the employees. He said that Government has raised daily wages from Rs. 60 to Rs. 110 per day and all daily wagers, contractual; adhocees etc. engaged prior to 2005 will be regularized shortly. Minister for Medical and Technical Education, R.S.Chib said that Government is keen to address the problems of the employees in a peaceful manner. He sought the cooperation of the employees to ensure good governance. He asked them not to misled by vested interests and rather concentrate on their work. Minister for Health, Sham Lal Sharma threw light on the Day and said that this Day is observed to remember numerous sacrifices given by the employees for the cause of the labour class. Those present on the occasion included, former Deputy Chief Minister and veteran Congress leader, Mangat Ram Sharma, legislators, Indu Pawar, Mohammad Sharief Niaz, Chairperson, SC Welfare Board, Swarn Lata, Chairman, OBC Development Board, Kuldeep Raj Verma, Chairman, Gujjars & Bakerwals, Ch.Bashir Ahmed Naz, former Minister Mula Ram, President, J&K INTUC, Shiv Kumar Sharma and several political and Trade Union leaders.
