| Govt has failed to provide any solace to Employees: PDP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 1: The Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) today organized a function on May Day which is also popular as Labour Day in memory of those who sacrificed their lives for the Workers and against the injustice of the capitalists. A large number of PDP workers and activists of the Employees and Workers Trade Union Wing were present. The function was organized by Suresh Sharma, Provincial President of the J&K Employees and Workers Trade Union Wing of PDP. On this occasion the senior leaders put light on the significance of May Day and said that the international Labour Day draws its history from Chicago martyrs who sacrificed their lives for daily 8 hours working call. This he said, laid the edifice for struggle to regulate the working hours, conducive workings conditions and protect economic interests of the working class. They said that the real tribute to the martyrs of the May Day is to create a united programme of action by all unions and mass organizations to force the government to implement the labour laws in the state and ensure that the right to protest and the voice of workers and employees is not stippled. Speaking on the occasion A K Sawhney, Spokesperson of the party said that the workers, whenever resort to peaceful strikes are suppressed and subjected to harassments and unwarranted force. He said that the PDP strongly supports the cause of the state government employees and implementation of the 6th pay Commission. He deplored the government for imposing ESMA and deducting the salaries of the employees. He accused the government of betrayal with the employees and said that the policy of suppression and oppression will backfire and there is grave unrest in the entire state.
