Follow 'coalition dharma': Soz tells party leaders
5/1/2010 11:26:13 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 1: On expected lines, J&K PCC chief Prof Saif-u-Din Soz did his job well in time, both at the internal level as well as publicly ,giving a loud and clear message that 'all is well' with NC-Congress coalition government in the state. If Soz has publicly dismissed any 'differences' between the allies and whatsoever that surfaced in the cabinet meeting as vital for strengthening democratic system, the veteran party president has given instructions to the ministers that no such thing should happen which can become a cause of 'friction' between the coalition.
The bottom line and undercurrent message he gave at both the fronts today is too clear to understand and analyze . He made it clear that coalition has to work and work unitedly, come what may and it will last its full term. While agreeing to the queries of media at a function today, the J&K Pradesh Congress chief sought to dispel any misconceptions or apprehensions of differences between NC and Congress over any issue. "These are not serious issues…..these are not differences but certain areas where some more suggestions have come up to make any policy more strong…" Soz said to a group of media persons today.
"Differences of opinion usually emerge in cabinet meeting and it is always consensus that bridges it……even if some differences have been aired over some issue it make the coalition bonds more stronger….in that sense it is important", Soz asserted, while undermining the speculations of misunderstandings or serious differences.
Prof Soz went on downplay the developments during past two days mainly over the new transfer policy stating that Congress shall and will always try to bring in consensus rather than allowing any gaps between the coalition. "The party is committed to strengthen the coalition Government in the state… it will work in that direction and tread the path that makes coalition a success", was his assertion. In the function organized in connection with May Day celebrations, Prof Soz also called upon the party workers to work in tandem with party line to strengthen the coalition at all levels.
If that was message he gave publicly, Prof Soz later held meeting with Congress leaders including some ministers and chairmen of various Boards belonging to the party. The meeting was held in Guest House today in which the PCC chief gave instructions to them that they have follow the rules of coalition 'religiously' and no such developments should be allowed to happen that convey wrong messages about 'unhealthy' relation or ties between the partners. The state party chief is also believed to have given the indication to the leaders that both the allies have to have coordination as local bodies elections have to fought together across the state. Sources said Soz while appreciating the concerns and reservations of sone ministers over the transfer policy has made it clear that it was well on their part to have given their suggestions and response promptly but it would not be appropriate to make big issues out of non issues.
Those who were present in the meeting included four cabinet ministers Taj Mohi-u-Din, Sham Lal Sharma., RS Chib and Raman Bhalla. Besides there were leaders including Kuldeep Raj, Swaran Lata, Bashir Naz, who all chairpersons of various Advisory Boards.
