Simula Club, YCC advance in Sodhi Memorial Cricket

JAMMU, May 2: Simula Cricket Club and Yankee Cricket Club won their respective matches today to move into the next round of the ongoing 2nd Ashok Sodhi Memorial Twenty-20 Cricket Tournament at Parade ground, here. In the first match of the day, Simula Cricket Club (SCC) defeated Lion's Cricket Club (LCC) by 22 runs. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, SCC set a target of 148 runs for the loss of seven wickets, which, in reply, LCC could not chase and bowled out for 125 runs in 19.3 overs.
Hardeep Singh was top scorer with 29 runs while Hilal Rather and Ram Dayal contributed 18 and 16 runs respectively. From LCC, Shazal Ali was most successful bowler with five for 25 in four overs while Chamkar Singh took one.
Batting second, LCC lost all their wickets for 125 runs inn 19.3 overs. Shazal Ali and Ankur were main scorers with 30 (off 22 balls, 1x4, 3x6) and 29 (off 14 balls, 4x4, 2x6) runs respectively. Ram Dayal and Hilal were most successful bowlers with three and two wickets respectively.
For his all round performance, Shazal Ali of LCC was declared man of the match.
In the second match of the day, YCC registered a 12 runs win over Channi Cricket Club. Batting first, YCC made 149 runs for three. Abhay Bakaya was top scorer with unbeaten 54 (off 33 balls, 8x4) while Vishal contributed 30-ball 34 runs. Yudhir clinched three wickets from Channi Club.
Later, chasing a target of over seven-run per over Channi Club bowled out for 137 runs in 19.1 overs. Hunna made highest 24 runs. From YCC, Kapil bagged three wickets, followed by Atul and Munish who shared two each.
Abhay Bakaya was declared man of the match for his half-century.
Today's matches were officiated by Sadiq Malik, Sanjay Raina while Raghav was scorer.
