Early Times Report JAMMU, May 2: Ashwani Sharma of Tikri, a student of Delhi Public School, Kakrial, won the coveted men's title in the 6th Udhampur District Sport Climbing Championship which was organised by J&K Mountaineering Association at Sprawling Buds School, Chinore, here today. Junior girls and junior boys' titles went to Rupali Sharma of Vivek Niketan, Udhampur and Meneesh of National Academy, Udhampur respectively. Shiv Sagar of Vivek Niketan won sub-junior boys event and Bindia Sharma of National Academy sub-junior girls' title in this day-long competition. Earlier, Director Tourism, Jammu SM Sahni, who was chief guest, declared open the competition. Addressing the gathering, he announced that the Department of Tourism shall explore the possibility of constructing a standard climbing wall at Jammu. Two adventure awareness camps shall also be organized at Udhampur and Jammu, he added. Among others present included secretary of North Zone Sport Climbing Committee, Ram Khajuria, Principal of Sprawling Buds School, Pooja Sharma, Rahul Sharma and Ramesh Khajuria, both Directors of the host school. Principal National Academy, Vishav Mohan Sharma, Principal NITL, Udhampur, senior vice president of Tawi Trekkers, OP Padha, Sumit Khajuria, a renowned mountaineer of the state, Satish Bhan, and other members of the Mountaineering Association of J&K were also among those prominent present. While Shawetica Khajuria was the judge of the competition, Akshit Mahajan, Suraj Singh, Anil Kumar and Rahul Sharma were the Route Setters-cum-Belayers. The Detailed Results: Men: Ashwani Sharma of Tikri, Ist; Anil Kumar Thappa and Ankush Raina (both of National Academy, Udhampur), bagged second and third place respectively. Boys: Meneesh and Ankush Gupta, both of National Academy,Udhampur were first and second respectively. Girls: Rupali Sharma of Vivek Niketan, Udhampur, Ist; belong to National Academy, Shivani Sharma was 2nd and Purvi Gupta, third. Sub-junior boys: Shiv Sagar and Vijay Kumar, both of Vivek Niketan were fist and second respectively while Rahul Manotra of National Academy finished third. Sub-junior girls: Belongs to National Academy, Bindia Sharma bagged first place, Kumari Kiran, 2nd and Priyanka Devi, third.
