| Pvt educational Institutions to play a constructive role: Malik | | Co-curricular activities must for personality development: Chib | | EALRY TIMES REPORT UDHAMPUR, May 2: Minister for Higher Education, Abdul Gani Malik has called upon the private educational institutions of higher learning to play a constructive role in spreading quality education to every nook and corner of the state to dispel the darkness of ignorance and illiteracy. The Minister was speaking at a concluding function of month long Social, Cultural and Sports activities organized by the management of private B. Ed Colleges of Reasi and Udhampur districts at Udhampur last evening. Malik said that private educational institutions in the state has gained credibility for the past few years as result over 40,000 students hailing from other state are getting education in these B. Ed colleges in the state. Reiterating the commitment of the collation government, he said that all out efforts are being made to bring more private educational institutions under the ambit of education sector for spreading the reach of quality higher education near the door steps of students. The Minister asked the Vice Chancellor of Jammu University to conduct regular visits of different colleges under the University to see the functioning of these colleges and take appropriate steps for making them more vibrant. He also suggested for opening up a middle school in each B.Ed college of the state. Complimenting the Minister for Higher Education and authorities of Jammu University for designing month long co-curricular activities for B. Ed colleges, the Minister for Medical and Technical Education, R S Chib said that real education is not merely reading and writing but all-round development of student's personality. Emphasizing on the need to incorporate extra-curricular activities as an integral part education curriculum, Chib said that such activities provide and opportunity to bring out the hidden versatility among our budding youth and help them to channelize their enormous creative energy for constructive activities. He hoped that students from other state reading in these colleges would act as ambassadors of peace and carry the message of peace and brother hood to their respective places. He called for holding such events in future also. Member Parliament, Choudhary Lal Singh while speaking on the occasion said that higher education in the state is gaining momentum after every passing day. He said that B. Ed colleges in the state are providing trained candidates for teaching profession. With the opening of these colleges, he said that problem of unemployment has been solved to some extent as these institutions have provided job avenues to number of candidates. Lal Singh also appreciated the cultural programme presented by the students of different B. Ed colleges. MLA Udhampur, Balwant Singh Mankotia also spoke on the occasion and demanded early start of construction works for University campus at Udhampur. MLA Chenani, Krishan Chander Bhagat, appreciated the cultural programme. Vice Chancellor Jammu University, Varun Sawheny, assured that work on University Campus at Udhampur would be initiated soon and emerged as a model campus in near future. Director Colleges Development Council, University of Jammu presented welcome address. On the occasion a colour full cultural programme was also presented by the students of B.Ed colleges which was highly appreciated by the audience. The prizes were also distributed among the winners of different sports activities organized during the month long programme.
