| Dilawar lays foundation of Jogi bridge at Betab valley, Pahalgam | | Lavinder park coming up at Pahalgam | | Srinagar, October 15 – As a sequel to exposing hitherto un-known parts of Kashmir to the outside tourism world, the Minister for Tourism, Horticulture and PHE, Mr. Mohammad Dilawar Mir today laid the foundation of Jogi Bridge (foot bridge) over Sheshnag Nallah in Pahalgam to provide access to the nature lovers and visitors to another the virgin scenic spot popularly known as Betab valley. The new tourist destination would provide alternate to world famous Pahalgam tourist resort, which is getting flooded due to ever increasing tourist influx. Speaking to an impressive gathering after the inaugural ceremony, tourism expansion programme in around the Pahalgam. He said newer tourist spots like Betab valley are being developed to expose these as virgin tourist resorts. He said an amount of Rs 2.50 crore is being spent for development of Betab valley under destination development programme of Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan. Besides, a famous adventurist of international reputation, Captain Pathania has been appointed as tourism consultant to promote adventure tourism in the state in a big way, the Minister added. He directed the officers of Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA) to strictly implement the ban on use of Polythene adding that stocks of polythene should be seized in the entire Pahalagm region. He directed for launching a vigorous anti-polythene drive at Pahalgam while appealing general public to supplement government endeavours for preserving and conserving ecology and the environment for which Kashmir is known as pradise on the earth.
