| BJP intensifies mass contact campaign | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 2: To give boost to the party's ongoing 'Mass Contact Campaign' launched by Shamsher Singh Manhas after taking over as the state president, a public rally was organised at Reasi by the district unit of BJP under its president Kabla Singh. Shamsher Singh Manhas, while addressing the rally said, "Jammu and Kashmir is the Crown of our motherland and the patriotic people in the state have sacrificed their precious lives for the state's full integeration with the rest of the country." He said, "the real challenge which the nationalist forces are facing today is not only from the people sitting acros the border but some elements within the state are playing into the hands of the enemy and making efforts to keep it unstable." He lamented, " it is unfortunate that the successive governments in the state, mostly headed by the NC, the Congress or the PDP and the coalitions of NC-Congress or PDP-Congress, have not bothered to think about the welfare and upliftment of a common man." He alleged that while the NC and PDP have concentrated on valley only, the Congress never uttered a single word for Jammu because its one point has always been to grab the chair and stick to it at any cost. Party MLA from Reasi Baldev Raj Sharma, in his address, said that the government departments in his constituency have become "den of corruption" and he has made up his mind to weed out this menace from his constituency. BJP State Vice-President & Prabhari Reasi BJP Anil Gupta, in his address, said that although the present coalition government has completed about 16 months in chair but in practical it has failed to come up to the expectations of the people. Abdul Ghani Chib, Narsingh Dass, Sudesh Pandotra, Balbir Ram,Munish sharma, Kuldeep Mengi, Aseem Gupta, Sheel Magotra, Chanderkanta Sharma, Dewan Chand, Mohd. Israil, Mohd. Rafiq, Naresh sharma, Chaman Bhagat, and Lal Man Singh were prominent among those who were present in the meeting.
