| Sarhand Fateh Diwas celebrations from May 12 | | |
EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 2: The celebrations of tercentenary of Sarhand Fateh Diwas and establishment of Sikh Raj by Baba Bahadur will be observed from May 12 to May 15. Talking to media persons here, Avtar Singh Khalsa, a member of the celebration committee and president Jammu United secular Forum said that Baba Banda Singh Bahadur who was a native of Rajouri made great sacrifice to fight against the repressive regime of Mughals who were bent upon converting Hindu to Islam. "He not only defeated such forces but also established the Sikh Raj after seeking blessings of Guru Gobind Singh," he maintained. He also complimented Mahant Manjeet Singh of Dera Nangali Sahib Poonch for initiating these celebrations under his supervision. Singh called upon the people of the State in general and Sikhs in particular to participate in celebrations of Tercentenary of Sarhand Fateh Diwas which are being organised in Various Districts between Mary 12 to May 15. He disclosed that a Kirtan Darbar in district Samba at 7 p.m shall be organised while it would be held at district Udhampur, Rajouri and culminated at Digiana Ashram on May 13, May 14 and May 15 respectively. Other Sarahand Fateh Divas celebration Committee members who spoke in the press conference included Harjeet Singh, president NNO , Mohinder Singh, chief organisor, Bhai Khania Nishkam Sewa Society, Paramjeet Singh, president AISSF, Surinder Singh Kala, Kulwant Singh and Kultar Singh.
