| India protests intrusion bids in flag meets on IB, LoC | | | Early Times Report JAMMU: In two flag meetings held today on the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC), Indian troops took up with their Pakistani counterparts the issues of yesterday's facilitation of infiltration bids and unprovoked firing by them in Jammu and Poonch sectors. The meeting on the IB was held in the morning at Ballar in Ramgarh sub-sector near here between the company commanders of the two sides, according to official sources. Sources said BSF lodged a strong protest against faclitating infiltration of armed militants from Pak side and cross-border firing at Ballar. Though the meeting was held in a very congenial atmosphere, the Rangers denied their involvement in the incident, the sources added. The jawans of 59 Bn of BSF had picked up movement of a large group of armed militants near Ballar forward post yesterday morning. The militants had exfiltrated following firing by BSF men. The Rangers had given them cover fire. On the LoC, the meeting was held at Chakan da Bagh crossing point at about 5.30 pm. The Indian side was represented by Col Krishnan and the Pak side by Col Arshan, who was accompanied by Maj Mushtaq and Cap Umaad.Though a BSF jawan was wounded in firing by Pak troops in Krishna Ghati sub-sector of Poonch last evening, Col Arshan denied any Pak involvement in the incident. The Pak firing in Krishna Ghati was aimed at providing cover fire to militants waiting to cross over to this side to foment trouble in India, the sources added. This was the second incident of ceasefire violation in Jammu region within a day.
