| 'Punish unauthorised agents in RTO office' | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 3: All J&K Motors Transport Companies today demanded complete identification and banning of "unauthorized" agents operating in office of the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) in Jammu. Talking to media persons here today, Gajan Singh, President of the association and President State Akali Dal, Jammu and Kashmir said, "It's a matter of surprise that every year RTO Office Jammu has been raided by different agencies like Crime Branch, Vigilance and Police department and registered agents had to go through harassment and humiliation." "Even not a single registered agent has been arrested or found guilty till date," he said, adding "In spite we are considered culprits in the eyes of government agencies as well as general public." Singh further said, "These unauthorized agents should be dealt under law and they should not be allowed to work in the office. They always engage in getting prepared fake and forged documents and charged huge money from the innocent public." He also appealed the RTO and Police that registered agents should not be subjected to harassment as recently police arrested six agents including two registered agents. He informed, "There are 50 registered agents who have proper identity cards and registration certificate but it's a matter of concern that more than 200 agents operating in RTO office and they should be identified and not be allowed to mint money from general masses." He further appealed higher authorities and Transporter Minister for permanent ban on unauthorized agents. He also demanded office accommodation for All J&K Motors Transport Companies in newly constructed office in Narwal. Those who were present in the press conference were Gurvinder Singh Prince, general secretary, Joginder Abrol, chairman, Pankaj Sharma, Prithvi Chuhan, Jagmohan Singh, Tarlochan Singh, Advisor and Jagdish Choudhary.
