| MLA Doda condemns attack on VDC members | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 3: MLA Doda, Abdul Majid Wani, has strongly condemned attack on Village Defense Committee members, yesterday, at village Koti in Doda.
According to press handout issued here today, such cowardice act of militants is strongly condemned and it is only an attempt to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere of the area. People of Koti village have always adhered to the principals of peace, harmony and non-violence and known for their stand since pre-independence era.
Wani, who himself remained all the time at GMC Jammu and supervised the medical treatment given to these badly injured VDC members, has appealed to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for announcing maximum relief to those affected and order for sufficient security in the area.
MLA expressed serious concern and anguish over militants' attack on these innocent villagers and demanded stern action against the culprits.
Few communal elements are hard bent upon to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere of Doda district for their personal interests. People in past, as well, rejected such elements and have always preferred to remain united for the purpose of overall development of Doda district and the state.
Abdul Majid Wani exhorted people to be aware of the ill-designs of all communal forces and not to fall in their trap.
He asked them to maintain the culture of communal harmony and peace in their area to give a befitting defeat to the militants as well as all communal elements trying to take undue advantage of such unfortunate incidents.
Wani also demanded inquiry into another incident at Defa Dhar in Dhar Dachnan area, wherein two minor brothers reportedly fiddled with a grenade found in the fields while playing outside their houses and were seriously injured.
