| Slathia optimistic about people's cooperation to Govt with added zeal, commitment | | Distributes cheques under SW schemes | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 3: Asking people to judge and quantify the significant achievements of the Coalition Government recorded in every parameter of development so far, Minister for Industries and Commerce, S. S. Slathia, today expressed optimism that the people will extend cooperation to the present dispensation with added zeal, commitment and enthusiasm. This was stated by the Minister while distributing 161 cheques worth Rs.1.93 lakh, 50 sewing machines and a tricycle among widows and handicapped persons at an awareness camp organized by the Social Welfare Department at Gura Morh in Vijaypur constituency. Addressing on the occasion, the minister exhorted upon the concerned authorities to create massive awareness among the people especially those living in remote and far off pockets of Jammu division. He said that with this effort the purpose of welfare schemes initiated by the government to raise socio-economic profile of under privileged section of the society could be met. He said that efficiency of an officer or official could be gauged only with their performance and achievement so he should not compromise with his responsibilities to avoid embarrassment to himself and his respective department as well. The Minister said that Omar led Coalition Government has succeeded in turning its words into actions which is quite visible by the tremendous achievements registered in almost every field of development. In this regard, he expressed gratitude to the people, without whom cooperation this stupendous task of developing a state, which has suffered a lot economically, socially and politically due to over two decades long turmoil, would have not been possible. He was also hopeful about continuation of such active support from the people in future so that the dream of making J&K a model state could be realized. Later, the Minister addressed a series of public meetings at Kothey Pathania and Badali in Vijaypur constituency. The people of the area putforth various demands and problems as well which included un-interrupted power and drinking water supply, better road connectivity, construction of lanes and drains, lack of infrastructural facilities in various educational institutions etc.Speaking on the occasion, Slathia said that the state government is determined to ensure enhanced basic amenities to the people especially living in border and hilly areas. He said that a number of reformative development programmes have been launched in the state which would go a long way in taking J&K to new highs of peace, progress and prosperity. The Minister assured the people that all their genuine demands would be considered sympathetically.
