| Comprehensive plan for development of Kunjwani Peer Baba: Bhalla | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 3: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla today said that the Government is working on a plan for development of facilities for the devotees visiting Peer Baba Shrine at Kunjwani Chowk and preservation of Holy Pond in its premises,. The Minister was interacting with the locals after laying the foundation of deep drain from Kunjwani Chowk to Badhu Rakh Chowk, to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 20 lakh. Bhalla asked the executing agency to complete the work within stipulated time frame and ensure use of quality material. Listing the developmental activities being taken up in Jammu city and its peripheries, the Minister said that the work on the up -gradation of Kunjwani-Satwari road to 4-lane would be started soon, for which the Government has already released Rs 1 crore. He said the project is estimated to cost Rs 50 crore. He said that work on the 4-lane bridge from Bhagwati Nagar to Belicharana, involving a cost of Rs. 150 crore, would also be started after completing the tendering formalities. He further said that the Government has approved Rs. 19 crore for maintenance of 6 kilometer long Nallah passing through Gandhi Nagar, adding that the work would be started soon. He asked the engineers to personally monitor the ongoing projects in their jurisdictions. Referring to the steps being taken to improve Medicare facilities in the winter capital, the Minister said that upcoming 400-beded hospital at Gandhi Nagar would be soon dedicated to the people. He said the hospital would have latest facilities, including Citi scan and help in easing the rush in premier hospitals of the city. Later, work on the laying of drinking water supply pipes, at Trikuta Nagar Extension, was started in presence of the Minister for which Rs. 1.75 lakh has been earmarked. At Mandlek Chowk, Narwal Bala, Bhalla asked the Director Tourism to prepare a detailed project report for construction of view point, toilet and park near Raja Mandlek Temple for the benefit of visiting devotees.
