| Three held for taking money | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 3: A defence labour officer identified as Khurheed Ahmed Vohra and two civilians today landed in police dragnet for their alleged act of charging money from candidates during a recruitment rally of army porters. Four candidates approached police with a complaint that in the recruitment rally of porters at the Akhnoor army cantonment, one officer was asking them to pay money for their selection. Acting on the complaint, police raided the army cantonment and arrested the army labour officer with a cash of Rs 60,000, police sources said. Two civilians, who trapped the candidates for him, were also taken into custody. They were identified as Dalip Koul of Miran Sahib and Vijay Kumar of Doda. Rs 47,000, which they had collected from the candidates, were recovered from them. Sources identified the four candidates, who lodged complaint with police, as Surinder Kumar, Swarn Singh, Puran Singh and Rakesh Kumar. They alleged that Rs 15,000 per candidate were being charged for their selection.Police had registered a case against the accused.
