| Sangarsh concerned over Pak Foreign Minister's statement | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 4: Sangarsh today took serious note over the statement of the former Foreign Minister of Pakistan Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri that a final deal for the settlement of the Kashmir issue had been agreed upon before domestic turmoil in Pakistan derailed matters. Talking to media persons here today, Mahesh Kaul, president, Sangarsh said the statement was appeared in the Times of India April 24 which was endorsed by the same paper in its editorial of April 25. 'The startling revelation made by the Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri regarding behind the scene settlement raises serious questions and concerns about the strategy being adopted by the Indian state to give concessions to Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir', he mentioned. Kaul alleged, 'Indian state has walked into the trap laid down by the American strategic interests and the clever mode of persuasion adopted by Pakistan to grab the state of Jammu and Kashmir on the pretext of fighting American war against Taliban'. He further said, "To safeguard the American territorial integrity and internal security Indian strategic and security interests are being sacrificed by persuading Indian political class to dilute the Northern Frontiers in Jammu and Kashmir". He further said that Pakistani authorities and bureaucrats are quite confident and forthright in revealing what had transpired between the two countries as far as the Kashmir issue is concerned but Indian State is maintaining a stoic silence over the issue and the statements given by the Pakistani authorities. 'Should the silence of the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh be taken as the acceptance of the non-territorial settlement', he questioned. He appealed the Indian nation and the nationalistic forces in Jammu and Kashmir to join hands to maintain the territorial integrity of the Indian Union at any cost. The others who were present in the press conference included Ranjeet Sharma (CAC), Sachin Bhagat, Vice President, Meenakshi Anand and others.
