| Hurriyat favours triangular talks for settling Kashmir issue | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 4 : Welcoming the decision of India and Pakistan to resume the composite dialogue , a senior leader of the All Party Hurriyat Conference, Prof.Abdul Gani Bhat, said that the two sides cannot proceed in isolation as they have to involve the people of Jammu and Kashmir in the talks for the settlement of the Kashmir issue. The Hurriyat leader said that resumption of the composite dialogue had become necessary because people here or there have no time to "waste on war,hatred and animosity “Time has come when people in India and Pakistan have to rise above hostilities, animosity and conflict and resolve the bilateral issues peacefully and amicably, he said. In reply to a question, Bhat said "bilateral talks between Delhi and Islamabad are all right but the involvement of the representatives of people of Jammu and Kashmir is imperative because we, too, are a party to the dispute''. He said "let India and Pakistan start the process of talking to each other and when the talks proceed satisfactorily, the two sides have to involve us in the dialogue so that the final settlement was in accordance with the wishes of the people of the state." Asked whether he had a solution in mind which could leave no scope for the people of India,Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir to suffer from a sense of defeat, Bhat said that a number of solutions can emerge when the two sides display flexibility and start the dialogue with all sincerity.He said when the two sides adopt pragmatic approach and avoid trying to settle score over each other a solution could be hammered out. He said India and Pakistan have worked out a sound scheme of resolving all the bilateral problems through talks adding that " I hope the talks remain Kashmir centric." He said both the sides need to forget history,forget the bitter past and move ahead with all the sincerity and flexibility that are required to resolve a ticklish issue like Kashmir. Asked after India and Pakistan had decided to resume the composite dialogue was there a need fo the resumption of the Hurriyat-Delhi talks, Bhat replied in positive, saying Delhi has to talk to us because we represent the aspirations of the people in Kashmir.
