| Vice Chairman for percolating benefits to OBCs | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT UDHAMPUR, May 4: Vice Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir State Advisory Board for the welfare of Other Backward Classes (OBCs), Kudeep Verma has exhorted upon the officers of different departments to put in their sincere efforts in percolating the benefits of the various schemes launched by the State and Central governments to raise socio -economic status of Other Backward Classes . Verma was speaking at a brief interactive meeting with district administration Udhampur to discuss the problems relating to OBCs here on Thursday. The District Development Commissioner Udhampur, Baseer Ahmed Khan. Chief Planning Officer, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Chief Medical Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, Chief Education Officer, Programme Officer ICDS, Senior Officers of the Engineering and other departments were also present in the meeting. Speaking on the occasion the Vice Chairman stressed the need for identifying the beneficiaries of other backward community in the district so that real benefit could be extended to them. To monitor the different schemes meant for OBCs, a committee would be constituted soon, he added. In his appraisal, the District Development Commissioner, Udhampur said that benefits of all normal and plan schemes implemented in the district are being extended to all walks of the society including the OBCs. However, there is separate District Plan allocation for welfare of OBC during 2009-10, hundred percent utilization of approved outlay of Rs.15.09 lacs was made. The DDC said that there are number of other welfare schemes under which due share are being provided to OBCs. During the year 2009-10, 1574 OBC students were provided pre-matric scholarships in the district, he further added.
