| NSF demands separate PSC for Jammu | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 4: Reiterating its demand of setting up of separate Public Service Commission (PSC) for Jammu, National Secular Forum (NSF) today held a protest in University of Jammu here. The protestors also expressed their anguish over the alleged wrong paper setting pattern adopted by the PSC authorities in the optional subjects, including Chemistry-B, Dogri-B, Zoology-B, Geography-B and Agriculture-B of recently concluded KAS examinations. Led by Vikas Sharma, president NSF, they demanded from the Chairman of Commission to decide about the pending representations of aggrieved KAS aspirants. Sharam also demanded that fair chance be given to all the candidates as been given to the candidates who took Agricultural Sciences. "The paper of Agriculture-B was conducted again when it was boycotted by the candidates after out of syllabus questions in it but the genuine demand of the other aggrieved candidates is being ignored completely which is an injustice," Sharma said. He further said, "24 days have been lapsed since the candidates have given their representations but PSC authorities have not disposed the representations regarding Chemistry-B, Dogri-B, Zoology-B and Geography-B. " He also condemned the attitude of PSC Chairman for ignoring the genuine demands of the students. The NSF chief suggested PSC authorities that if re-conduct of examination is not possible, the policy of "Scaling and Moderation" at the time of evaluation be followed so as to protect the right of candidates and give fair and equal opportunity to all. It is pertinent to mention here that Scaling/ Moderation is done not only in the subjective-type main examination but also in the objective-type preliminary examination of UPSC with a sole aim to give equal opportunity to candidates of all optional subjects as different subjects have different difficulty levels. Sharma alleged that blue eyed candidates were being recruited by the PSC at the instance of state government causing resentment among the unemployment youth. They said that the selection list of the Lecturers in school and higher education department in which much preference has been given to the candidates belonging to the Kashmir regions.
