| 212 Police Trainees passed out from SKPA | | | SARITA JAMWAL UDHAMPUR, May 4: Passing out Parade of 212 Police trainees including 4 Probationer Deputy Superintendents of police, one probationer Sub- Inspector and 207 Police women was held during a colorful ceremony at Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) here today. Director SKPA Udhampur, Navin Agarwal inspected the parade and took salute of the smartly marching contingents. Complimenting the trainees in general and lady constables and their parents in particular for encouraging their daughters to join police force for the service of the society, Navin Aggarwal said that all the police women had also been imparted training similar to almost Sub- Inspector level which would be of use to them through out their career. The passing out of such a large contingent of police women would help the J&K police in overcoming the gaps in deployment and removing gender bias, besides enabling women empowerment in the society, he maintained. He said that the training of these probationers in handling latest gadgets and being versed in updated laws during the training will enable them to perform the duties under hostile and extreme conditions while maintaining the cohesion with public at large. The Director assured that the state government and Police organization has a scheme to strengthen the academy as an institution for police excellence, adding that every effort would be made to further upgrade this academy on modern lines so as to make it exemplary institution of the state as well as of India. During 2009-10, a record number of 4294 trainees were given training in this academy, he disclosed. Director SKPA also distributed prizes to the police women who achieved distinction during their training. He also conferred the rank of selection grade to the overall best women trainee Khalida Bano who also received commendation certificate and cash rewards for best in outdoor and indoor subjects. Pooja Devi and Mehnaz Abdullah were awarded commendation certificates for the 2nd and 3rd all round best trainees, while Rekha Devi was given the prize for the best performance in range classification.
