| Under pressure of TBS, JU notify MBA IV semester schedule 2 days before exams | | | Mishu Gupta EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 4: In what could be described as lackadaisical and casual approach of Jammu University authorities towards the students pursuing professional courses, the date sheet for holding annual examinations of MBA-IV semester was issued two days short of the commencement of papers. Ironically, the Examination Wing of the University, which has been authorized to finalise the 'student-friendly' examination schedule, was forced to conduct examination from May 7 by the Business School of the University. The delay in issuance of official notification of MBA-IV semester Annual Examination has quite apparently caused strong resentment among hundreds of MBA students studying in the private institutes like IMS, TIMS, MBS and Shivalik College of Education, who have only caught unawares by sudden date or many them are still unaware of it. As the exams are slated to be held on May 7, the MBA students of Semester IV are not aware about the examination schedule and hence are not prepared for the same. It is worth mentioning here that the Business school of the University is the nodal centre for framing the date sheet, but the school has failed in timely notifying the exam schedule of the 4th semester. Official sources informed, "Though students of Business School were fully aware of the exam schedule 15 days back, the official notification was deliberately issued two days prior to commencement of papers which reflects that Business school is meting out step motherly treatment to the students of the private institutes." Many of students from these Private Institutes are finding it difficult in preparing for examinations and feel that the date sheet could have been issued at least a month in advance. One of the students of the Private College complained that as Jammu University has issued date sheet two days before the commencement of examination ' it would cause a lot of burden on us.' He further said, "I have to go to my college to get the roll number card in which four to five hours will be wasted. Then how much time will be left for me to prepare for the exams........?" When contacted, Controller Examination, GM Bhat passed the buck and said, "We were under tremendous pressure from the Business school (TBS) to conduct the examination as early as possible so that the process is completed by the end of this month. "Moreover this office has received representations of students to hold the MBA final semester without further delay," he maintained. When asked about issuance of date sheet at the eleventh hour keeping in view the interests of the TBS students only and ignoring those who are pursuing professional course from private institutes, Bhat mocked, "They are professional and are well aware that examination can be held any time. The students have no problem in preparing and facing the papers."
