| Quickly respond to NREGAS complaint: Naz | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT POONCH, May 5: Vice Chairman Gujjar and Bakerwals Development Advisory Board, Bashir Ahmed Naz said that panchayats are the basic democratic institutions where in mass people participation is ensured in development process of a particular locality. To achieve this target he impressed upon people to actively participate in ensuing panchayat elections. Naz was addressing a public rally at border village Jhulass here today. Lauding the sacrifices and role of police, army and other security forces in protecting borders of the country from external aggression and on the other hand extending helping hand for the welfare of civilians during earthquakes, floods, land erosion, fatal accidents and other calamities he appealed people to maintain cordial relation with these forces. At the same time he warned these forces to abandon tactics of coercion and other malpractices with civilians. Responding to NREGA complaints regarding its style of implementation and delay in payments for work executed, VC instructed ADC Poonch to examine the whole gamut of NREGA works in the district and prepare a list of labourers who executed work for which no payments have been made under rules. Naz said scholarship for Gujjar and Bakerwal and Pahari students have been enhanced recently and students can avail full advantage of this financial assistance and free accommodation in respective hostels provided by government. Responding to local demands Vice Chairman said high schools of Jhulass and Salotri are being upgraded to higher secondary school level and 11th class in both the institutions would start from next education session.
