| Bhalla for channelizing student's potential towards co-curricular activities | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 5: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla today impressed upon the teachers community to channelize students energy towards extra-curricular activities and imbibe in them moral values for the development of their overall personality besides excelling in their academics. Bhalla was speaking at a function at Government Primary School, Chhani Rama, today. Minister also handed over appointment letters to three candidates under Sarv Sikhsa Abhiyan (SSA) besides inaugurating additional accommodation. He also announced more additional accommodation for the school in view of increasing enrolment in the school. Bhalla also appreciated the teachers for imparting quality education to the students and achieving excellent results. He assured that the outstanding teachers will be rewarded for their tremendous performance. Elaborating various measures initiated by the coalition government in bringing about a discernible change in every parameter of education setup in the state, the Minister said that during the past 17 months of the present dispensation, a number of schools and colleges have been opened besides upgrading the existing ones. He said that the government is also working on several other projects to further raise the education standards in the state. The local people expressed gratitude to the Minister for initiating a number of development works in their area. They also apprised the Minister about various problems which need to be solved on priority basis including upgradation of the Primary School to Middle School level.
