| Sodhi Memorial T-20: Mohammadan Sporting wins by 11 runs | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 5: Sailing on a superb performance from Naresh Kumar, Mohammadan Sporting today registered a 11-run victory over Kathua Blues Cricket Club (KBCC) to move into the next round of the ongoing 2nd Ashok Sodhi Memorial Twenty-20 Cricket Tournament at Parade ground, here. Naresh hits 10 boundaries to make 52 runs facing 33 deliveries to help Mohammadan Sporting set a target of 152 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Earlier, Mohammadan Sporting won the toss and decided to bat first. Later, KBCC could not chase the total and lost all their wickets for 140 runs in the last 20th over. Besides Naresh’s 52, Azhar and Saroop also played well contributing 25 and 14 runs respectively to the total. From KBCC, Deepak Dogra and Vishwajeet clinched three wickets each while Amripal and Deepak Manhas shared apiece each. In reply, KBCC could make 140 runs losing all their wickets thereby lost the match by 11 runs. Amrit was main scorer with 38-ball 43 runs including six boundaries while Deepak Dogra contributed 19-ball 32 runs studded with a six and three fours. Farooq and Satwant bagged two wickets each from Mohammadan Sporting while Naresh, Samiullah and Gagan shared apiece each. For his fine innings of 52 runs, Naresh was declared man of the match. Meanwhile, the second match of the day, between Samula Cricket Club and Yankee Cricket Club could not be played because of rains. Now, the match shall be played on a later date.
