| STTA alleges nexus between GMC officials, private taxi operators | | | Chaman Kaul Early times report Jammu, May 5: Bizarre sequence in presence of Minister of Medical and Technical Education Minister, R S Chib was witnessed, when Special Tourist Taxi Association (STTA) Chairman lashed at members of administration of Government Medical College hospital for not conceding their ten years old demand. Chib alongwith few party workers paved visit to GMC to take stock of functioning of hospital. After concluding the meeting, Chairman STTA, Inderjeet Sharma entered and raised the issue of allotment of space for taxi stand for the convenience of general masses. In response, administrative officers will give instructions including Principal, Administrator and Superintend refused by saying that there is no space to be allotted. On this Sharma got furious and told minister that already running more than 35 cabs by various private owners have developed a nexus to loot the suffering people especially patients. "Actually STTA Chairman was accompanying minister and both had come to see a patient in CCU. There was no issue of allotment of land still if minister wishes to provide piece of land to them which could be looked at" said Principal GMC, Dr Rajinder Singh and added that space for even parking doctor's vehicles is not available in the premises. Administrator T. Angchok when contacted informed that that there is actue shortage of land still it is up-to ministry to advice the administration to arrange a piece of land for parking in the interest of common public. He said that every year auction of the space takes place and bidders get to play vehicles accordingly. Angchok said that in this regard next meeting would be taken soon to look into matter sympathetically. He said that if the association is thinking in better interest of common public there should be no hesitation in providing piece of land to them. Chib assured STTA Chairman and General Secretary B. L Sodhi that their long pending demand would be looked into sympathicaly. Later, Inderjeet Sharma while talking to Early Times said that authorities in nexus with hospital administration are looting poor and suffering public, which needs to be checked. He expressed though satisfaction after minister's assurances and expected that within short span of time the matter will be sorted out in the favour of common public.
