Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 05:
While showers in the winter capital and its surrounding areas today

made the day pleasant and led to a dip in temperature providing much

needed relief to the people from scorching heat, the storm that

followed caused extensive damage to a government school building and

four houses in Bani area of Kathua.
The rains came here after a long wait and lashed almost all parts of

the region.
As it rained almost all day intermittently, there was a considerable

dip in temperature. The rising temperatures had made the lives hell

here.
The showers were, however, followed by high-velocity winds which

caused extensive damage to a government school building at Panayag,

Bani.
Official sources said the school building was damaged badly.
Four houses were also broken due to the storm at Bani, the sources

added.
There was, however, no report of any loss to life of the people.
Meanwhile, two women received burns due to lightning at Nowshehra.

Identified as Paramjit Kour and Surinder Kour, they were admitted to

the sub-district hospital, Nowshehra.
