| "Pregnant" girl commits suicide after lover refuses to marry | | |
JAMMU, May 05:
Communal tension today gripped Badola in Udhampur after a 10th class
girl, who had become pregnant, ended her life by consuming poison
when her lover refused to marry her.
The girl, who belonged to another religion, allegedly had an affair
with Shabaz alias Anku of Badola.
Police sources said as the boy had developed physical relations with
her, the girl became pregnant.
When she asked Shabaz to marry her, he refused, the sources added.
Sources said as she was in depression following Shabaz's refusal to
marry her, she consumed poison at her residence today and ended her
life.
Communal tension prevailed in the village after the girl's death.
Sources said police were camping in the village to avoid any
untoward incident.
Shabaz had been arrested and booked under section 306 of RPC, the
sources added. |
