| MIER celebrates Red Cross day | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 6: Red Cross Day was celebrated today with great spirit and enthusiasm by N.S.S Unit of MIER College of Education at MIER campus by organizing an extension lecture on "Blood Donation: Some Myths" and by participating in blood donation. Dr.T.R Raina, Professor and Head Transfusion Medicine & Immunohaematology, Govt. Medical College/SMGS Hospital, Jammu was the resource person and worthy Chief Guest. Dr.Renu Gupta Director and Principal of MIER College of Education, Dr.Adit Gupta, Joint Director and Vice Principal of MIER College of Education, Dr. Surinder Kour, Administrator, Shashi Koul, Co-MR, Faculty members and N.S.S volunteers were present in the function. Dr. Surinder Kour formally welcomed the worthy guest and august gathering. Dr. Raina during his lecture & interaction cleared all the myths and misconceptions regarding "BLOOD DONATION". He provided valuable information and latest data about the various aspects related to blood and blood donation.
Poonam Soni N.S.S Programme Officer, MIER College of Education proposed a formal Vote of Thanks. This was followed by Blood donation camp at G.M.C, Bakshi Nagar. Dr. Raina inaugurated the camp. N.S.S volunteers took active part in donating blood. A group of 55 N.S.S volunteers and three faculty members Anu Sharma, Sakshi and Vinod Kalra donated blood. All the volunteers were provided with refreshments by the department. |
