| Controversy over local VC of CUJ | | JCUM serves 15 days ultimatum to Centre | |
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 6: Intensifying its ongoing agitation against the central government's alleged lackadaisical attitude and casual approach in appointing local Vice Chancellor for Central University Jammu, Jammu Central University Morcha (JCUM) today served an ultimatum of 15 days to appoint a Dogra academician as head of this prestigious institution.
The Morcha has taken strong note of "casual" approach of Centre in appointing local Vice Chancellor for Central University Jammu and warned that it would stage protest in Union Capital if the demand of Dogra VC is not conceded within fifteen days.
It has also submitted a memorandum to President seeking her intervention to get local Vice Chancellor for new Central University at Jammu.
"Since the past one month, the Central government has continued to maintain criminal silence which forecasts uncertainty, prejudicial approach with Jammu," Rajinder Singh Jamwal, president People's Revolutionary Movement (PRM) told reporters here. PRM is one of the major constituents of JCUM.
He maintained that JCUM delegation may soon rush to New Delhi for lodging protest and meeting with the President, Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition for the purpose. He questioned the role of Congress except its Members of Parliament from Jammu and also the BJP and their representatives elected from Jammu assuring and promising Jammu people to fight for their rights and also to safeguard their dignity and honor, but none of them came forward at this hour of crisis and rather are hobnobbing with "anti-Jammu" forces to defeat the cause of Jammu.
He lashed heavily upon forces inimical to Jammu interest for creating certain unknown groups to launch disinformation campaign at the behest of their mentors and exhorted the people to throw them out and deal them with "iron hand".
The JCUM leader however clarified that Jammu cause is secular and is not aimed against any individual, group or community but for getting its rights at any cost.
The Morcha also hailed Jammu Provincial Peoples Forum for displaying unity and supporting the Jammu Bandh on May 1. JCUM leaders Uday Chand (DPP) also spoke in the press conference |
