| JU urdu deptt organizes film festival | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 7: "Urdu films had not only popularized the Urdu language in whole the world but also had played a vital role in maintaining National integration and communal harmony and there films are assets of our heritage also these views were expressed in the inaugural function by the illustrious speakers at tow day urdu film festival organized by department of Urdu, university of Jammu in the Gian Chand Jain Seminar Hall here today. The Vice Chairman Phari Advisory Board Mushtaq Ahmed Bukhari inaugurated the festival while noted short story writer Khalid Hussain presided over the program.
Shahid Pervaz, Director Mulanan Azad National Urdu University Hyderabad was the Guest of honour on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion Buhkari lauded the efforts of Urdu department for organizing different literary activities.
These films also depicted old age culture. Even today the films which are given the name of Hindi film are actually in urdu as their dialogs, songs and stories are written in Urdu.
He said that the Urdu film like "Mugl-e-Azam", Mirza Galib, Umarou Jan Ada, Ek Chader Meli Se etc would be always remembered by Indian people as these film projected the cultural heritage of the Nation.
In his presidential address Khalid Hussain threw light on some of the important Urdu films.
He described these film a assets of Indian Heritage Khalid Hussain were of the view that Urdu film played a vital role to spread the message of love and brother hood. He quoted some of the song of Urdu film which had been sung by Lata Mangesker and Mohd. Rafi which are liked throughout the world even today.
Shahid Pervaz said that throughout India the department of Urdu, University of Jammu at present is doing a tremendous job for the promotion of Urdu language. He said that during last eight (8) months he had witness a several program of Urdu department of E-TV Urdu which shows that department had become a vibrant one throughout the country.
Earlier in his welcome address HOD Urdu Prof. Shohb Inayat Malik listed various activities organized by the department during the last eight months. He also informed that in future more and more literary programs would be organized for the promontion of Urdu language. Prof. Shohab said that Urdu film like Umrau Jan Ada, Ek Chader Meli se would definitely benefited the students of the department as these two novels are being taught at the MA. Level.
