| Chib lays foundation stone of GMC Indoor stadium | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 7: Minister for Medical, Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports, R. S. Chib on Friday laid foundation stone of Indoor Stadium Complex at Government Medical College. The Indoor Stadium being developed in two phases for providing sports facilities to the students of the Medical College Jammu is estimated to cost Rs 4 crore. The Minister fixed one year time for the completion of the first phase of the complex. The upcoming Stadium would have a Gymnasium, Squash Room, Billiards room, Badminton Courts, besides office, care taker's roo, reception / waiting room, parking for vehicles etc. which will be constructed in the first phase and involve a cost of Rs 1.80 Crore. The facilities to be developed in the second phase include Outdoor Stadium, upgrdation of existing infrastructure, swimming Pool and beautification and other works. Speaking at the occasion, the Minister said that the sports and other facilities being developed in the college would the Medical students to keep themselves physically fit which is pre- requisite for keeping up a healthy mind. He said since they have to serve the ailing people in future, their good health would guarantee a good team of doctors for the state. Exhorting upon the executing agency to use quality material in the construction of the complex, Minister fixed one year time for completion of the first phase. The Minister congratulated the Medical fraternity of the State on the selection of one of their colleague Dr Shah Faisal in IAS, who bring pride to the state by topping this year's select list of Indian Civil Services Examination. Principal GMC, Dr. Rajinder Singh, MD JKPCC, Tashim Mustafa, Administrator Associated Hospitals, Faculty members, students and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
