| Cong leaders wash their dirty linen in public | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 7: At a time, when the image of J&K Congress is of a divided house in different directions, a handful of leaders of the Pradesh Congress committee are out to spoil the party of senior party stalwarts by indulging in a game of back biting and venom spitting in public. As if it was not enough to cast aspersions on the rival factions and the leaders in each group at the political level, some partymen have now resorted to washing their dirty linen in public on even personal issues. Close on the heels of the demand raised by the senior Congress leader Abdul Gani Vakil to probe the details of the illegal wealth allegedly amassed by the political leaders including sitting ministers and members of the state legislature, a section of the Congress party leaders on Friday circulated an email to the media persons saying that a thorough probe should be conducted behind the purchase of 350 kanals of land reportedly purchased by the former union minister belonging to the Congress party. The mail was circulated by Vinod Sharma and had names of former MP Janak Raj Gupta and few others in the list of leaders who were demanding a probe to uncover the alleged murky land deal. Hans Raj, Secretary PCC Anil Chopa Secretary PCC Narinder Sharma, Secretary PCC, Narinder Singh, Ex Mayor have also demanded a thorough probe saying that the Congress party stands for transparency and does not support corruption and mal practices at any level. Though the Congress party leaders have desisted from naming the senior former union minister but the loyalties of the camp which is responsible for circulating media releases through their personal email accounts is well known and no political acumen is required to guess the obvious name of a former union minister. It may be mentioned here that in the recent months the way the Congress leaders have conducted themselves in the open and indulged in political mud slinging is a clear indication that the party high command instead of resolving the issue at the party forum has decided to stay away from the political mudslinging and have left both the factions fighting . The rivalry and infighting has now reached such proportion that the party leaders have been emboldened to wash their dirty linen in public. Whether the party high command will take some note of the latest development and mud slinging or choose to watch it silently remains to be seen.
