| 3 cheaters held | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 7: Three cheaters were today arrested by police for allegedly securing car loans from different banks on the basis of fake registration papers and then selling the vehicles at "cheaper" rates. The matter came to light when Gourav Gupta of Old City area approached Gandhi Nagar police station with a complaint that his Tata Saphari (JMU Q/3767) had been snatched by the youth from whom he had purchased it at the cost of Rs 2.80 lakh. The incident occured at Green Belt Park where Gourav was sitting with his family, police sources said. Acting on his complaint, police arrested one of the accused from Bahu Plaza area and his accomplices from Paloura. Sources identified them as Shakti Singh, Raman Dogra and Sohan Singh alias Sony, all residents of Ploura. During their interrogation, they told police that they used to secure car loans from different banks by producing fake registration papers of vehicles and then sell them to different people. The Saphari, they snatched from Gourav, was financed by the Ambphalla branch of the J&K Bank. The accused said they snatched the vehicle from Gourav because the bank had got a clue to its whereabouts. Sources said they had confessed to have secured several car loans against fake registration papers from different city banks. Their sustained interrogation was on.
