| Alert in Hiranagar after suspects’ movement | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 7: An alert was sounded all along the Jammu-Pathankote railway track and the nearby national highway after a patrol of special police officers (SPOs) picked up suspicious movement at Hiranagar in Kathua, about 60 km from here, last night. Two to three armed suspects were seen moving along the railway track at Hiranagar by SPOs last night, police sources said. Soon after the SPOs alerted police, a massive combing operation was launched in the area late last night in search for the suspects. Sources said cops also conducted searches along the railway track at Hiranagar, but no IEDs were found tied to the track. Checking of vehicles on the nearby national highway was also intensified, the sources added. Cops continued searches in the area throughout the day today but could not find any clue to the whereabouts of the suspects. Sources said dog squads were also pressed into service. Last month, two militants, who had infiltrated from the international border (IB), had a brief encounter with police at Hariachak, about 10 km from Hiranagar. They were later killed in a Punjab village.
